Mensen die als newbie met linux beginnen vinden het niet leuk dat ze in het begin minder
met hun systeem kunnen dan daarvoor. Je kunt eigenlijk veel meer met linux, als je maar weet hoe.
Nog 1 ding: PROBEER KAZAA NOOIT MET WINE AAN DE PRAAT TE KRIJGEN, HET IS HEEL ONSTABIEL
Dit was even ter inleiding

Wat heb je nodig:
1 fles 7up (voor langzame cpu's: 4-pack bacardi breezer)
2 lading trance-muziek
3 een degelijke linux versie (ik raad slackware aan en SuSE af)
4 je internetverbinding moet goed ingesteld zijn en werken, problemen? zoek een andere howto

OK L3ts G0

1 Download giFT (http://sourceforge.net/projects/gift)
Je mag ook wel wat plugins voor giFT downloaden (voor extra netwerk ondersteuning, als je bijv. ook op gnutella wilt downloaden)

2 compileer giFT:
cd naar de map waar je giFT gedownload hebt
tar -xzvf gift-0.11.4.tar.gz
heb je de tar.bz2 gedownload, doe dan:
tar -xjvf gift-0.11.4.tar.bz2 (versie 0.11.4 was de laatste versie toen deze howto is geschreven)
cd gift-0.11.4
./autogen.sh
./configure
make
(als root) make install

3 Download en compileer plugins
Bijv. Gnutella:
tar -xzvf gift-gnutella-0.0.5.tar.gz
cd gift-gnutella-0.0.5
./configure
make
(als root) make install
Als je met compilen een PKG_CONFIG_PATH error krijgt, typ dan dit:
export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig

4 FastTrack Plugin (=KaZaA)
Ga naar deze site en download gift-fasttrack
tar -xzvf giFT-FastTrack-0.8.3.tar.gz
cd giFT-FastTrack-0.8.3
export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig
./configure
make
(als root)make install

5 giFT configureren
typ: gift-setup

6 Een Gui installeren
Voor de meeste gebruikers lijkt Apollon mij wel een goede, dus downloaden we apollon
cd naar de dir waar je apollon gedownload hebt (bekend verhaal he?)
tar -xzvf apollon-0.8.7.tar.gz
cd apollon-0.8.7
./configure
make
(als root) make install


7 Nu moet alles goed werken.
probeer het maar eens, typ: apollon
als het goed is, komen nu alle temp files in homedir/.giFT/incoming en complete files in homedir/.giFT/completed
als er iets mis is, moet je even in je homedir/.giFT snuffelen en wat config files bijwerken
